Christian Apologetics

CARM Specializes in general Christian Apologetics, which includes: Atheism, Secular Movements like Homosexuality, Evolution and Abortion. Additionally, CARM examines Philosophical ideas, like relativism, metaphysics and ethics. CARM also examines Religious systems like Islam, the Bahai Faith and Wicca. Within Christianity, CARM examines Doctrine, Theology , the Cults and all forms of heresy .

Who we are? 

We are concerned Christians who have a strong dedication to the Word of God found in the Bible. We range from seminary graduates to the laity and we are dedicated to developing accurate biblical information in response to various religious systems such as Roman Catholicism, Mormonism, the Jehovah's Witnesses, Islam, Wicca and the Baha'i Faith;  we also analyze secular movements such as evolution, atheism, homosexuality and relativism by using logic and the  Scriptures.

What we do? 

At CARM we analyze religious and secular world views and compare them to the Bible. This means taking a look at such groups as Roman Catholicism, Mormonism, Jehovah's Witnesses, Wicca, and Satanism, while also examining secular humanism, evolution, atheism, the occult, UFO’s, etc.  We apply the principles of logic, evidence, and biblical truth to validate and/or invalidate the truth claims of whatever we examine. The goal is to bring all things into submission to the truth of God's word (2 Cor. 10:5). CARM teaches historical orthodox theology as reflected in the Protestant Reformation. It analyzes the Bible, establishes a consistent biblical theological perspective that is in harmony with the principles of the Reformation, and then uses it to contrast with various thought systems.  To get the information out, CARM uses the website, has a daily radio show, very busy forums, a blog, three theological schools, several books it’s produced, as well as interaction on social networks.  CARM, as a whole has been translated into Spanish, and many articles have been translated into various languages including Chinese, French, German, Polish, Portuguese, Japanese, Romanian, Indonesian, and Turkish.

Why we do it?

We do this primarily for the glory of God, the defense of the Christian faith, and the promotion of the Christian gospel. In this age of biblical illiteracy, we believe that the Christian Church needs to gain a better understanding of the historic and biblical Christian faith.  Christians need to be able to give an answer to all who ask them as directed in 1 Peter 3:15. As a parachurch ministry we help the body of Christ accomplish what the Scriptures require: the promotion, establishment, and defense of the Christian faith. Our goal is to call men everywhere to repentance and faith in the true and living Lord Jesus Christ.

How did we get started?

Our President, Matt Slick first became interested in apologetics at the age of 23 when he heard a quote from the founder of Mormonism, Joseph Smith, boasting that he had done more than Jesus to keep the Christian church together. From that point on, Matt began studying Christianity as well as cults and found that he was able to memorize scripture and give biblical answers. With his growing passion to defend and teach the faith, Matt started reaching out in various ways: preaching, teaching, prison ministry, evangelism, and Seminary -- where he earned his Masters of Divinity in 1991. When the Internet first came on the scene, Matt quickly got involved and in 1995 began the CARM website.  It has since grown into one of the largest apologetics ministries on the Internet.
