An Adventure in Learning: Scuba Summer Camp for Teens
A Great Way for Teens to Spend the Summer
It used to be that summer camp was a place that kids loathed, where they suddenly became homesick because they had to eat unappetizing food and take part in regimented activities. Now, summer camp is a great adventure, especially for those teens that attend scuba summer camp. Here is where young people can escape to warm seas and explore all the wonders that lie beneath the ocean’s tides. Teens at scuba summer camp are trained by instructors who are experienced divers. All participants receive certification from PADI, or the Professional Association of Diving Instructors.
A Close-up View of Marine Life
If a teen is not already thinking about working in the field of marine biology, he certainly will develop an interest when he takes a view at the fish, coral, and algae found beneath the sea. In addition, some scuba summer camp activities include exploring sunken vessels, surfing, visiting an aquarium, or swimming with marine animals, such as dolphins, sea turtles, or tropical fish.
Who Can Participate?
Regardless of their skill level - when it comes for surfing or scuba diving, most teens (13 to 16 years old) can enroll in scuba summer camp. Advanced scuba summer camp programs are also available for teens who already hold an open water scuba designation.
What is Covered in the Cost?
Typically, the cost of participating in scuba summer camp includes lodging (usually in cabin facilities), meals, transportation to and from the airport, scuba training materials, t-shirts, and instruction in surfing. A memorable adventure for any teen, scuba summer camp is a productive and fun way for kids to spend their summer vacation. Groups are small too, with enrollment for each session comprised of about ten participants.
