Who we are?
Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) is one of the largest veterans charities in the United States. It has over 65,000 members with over 650 local chapters across the country. VVA has been an integral part in lobbying for some of the most significant veterans related legislation of the past 30 years. These ground breaking laws include issues dealing with PTSD, Agent Orange, Veterans legal services, and Veterans healthcare. Vietnam Veterans of America also helps veterans in their local communities through a variety of local community outreach programs. Also, VVA has an ability to help secure benefits for veterans that have been denied claims. Nationally, VVA has approximately 700 accredited service officers and they represent approximately 30,000 veterans for claims before the US Department of Veterans Affairs. During this time at the Board of Veterans Appeals VVA had 4 attorneys and 1 contract attorney, who together handled 1,332 appeals with a 78.6% win ratio. We are consistently one of the top performing Veteran Service Officers (VSOs) at the Bureau of Veterans Affairs. VVA takes claims that other VSOs turn away, and win. The estimated amount for newly running awards with retro for 2011 for veterans and beneficiaries represented by VVA is $57,035,456. The estimated total amount for running awards for 2011 for veterans and beneficiaries represented by VVA is $546,309,191. Basically, for 2011, VVA won $57 million in new claims for veterans and their dependents, and have a total of HALF A BILLION dollars in payments in 2011 for claims that were won from prior years. VVA is dedicated to serving veterans of all wars. Their motto “Never again will one generation of Veterans abandon another” sends a clear message to veterans of more recent conflicts that the Vietnam Veterans will solidly stand by their side and work to protect all veterans’ rights.
What we do?

In many areas, we can offer donation pick up service within 24 hours. On the day of your donation pick up, all you have to do is leave your donations outside your home by 8:00am. We will send a truck to pick up the donations and our driver will leave you a tax deduction receipt. We pick up rain or shine and you do not need to be home. Acceptable donations include: clothing (men’s, women's children’s), household items, toys, shoes, books, baby items, tools, small furniture, linens and just about anything that is light enough for one person to carry.
Why we do it?
The Vietnam Veterans of America Household Good Donations Program benefits the public in many ways. First and foremost, the household goods and clothing donation pickups help generate the majority of the funding for the charity. This in turn directly helps all U.S. veterans. Second, donating old clothing and household items is a great way to recycle. Donating is good for environment because every year your donation pickups made through PickUpPlease.org keep thousands of tons of materials out of our landfills. Third, donors also really like donating to VVA through PickUpPlease.org because all donations are tax deductible. It is a simple way to earn tax deductions. Lastly, we have found that the free donation pick up service is incredibly convenient for donors. Because we can pick up donations so quickly in many areas, we are a great tool for people who are organizing their closets, garage or even their entire home. We make spring cleaning a lot less of a chore because unlike other charities, we come to you. You don’t need to pack everything up and drive it to a donation center. This level of service is invaluable when you are trying to get your home organized or if you are moving homes.
